Listings For years there were only two
main ways of having your website listing appear on the
first page of the major search engine results (sponsored
listings and "free" listings). Today, Google and other
search engines are adding something called "local
listings." The concept is that when a search term
includes a geographic location such as Orlando hotels,
Google is (typically but not always) beginning to
include a map with local listings that include 3 or 10
listings next to the map. Similar to the ten
organic listings directly below, Local Listings are
essentially free listings (i.e. no “click-through”
fees). Rankings criteria is based on a number of things
including optimization, proper geographic information
listed on your website, getting positive "reviews"
through third party websites.
