As magical and important as your wedding day can be, it only lasts a few hours and then it's over. Photographs and videos of the special day can preserve the magic and the memories so they last a lifetime.
So it's worth the extra effort to find a photographer that can capture your wedding memories for you in just the right way. Of course you want a photographer who is skilled and experienced. You can probably gauge these qualities by looking at their portfolio and asking a few questions.
But it's just as important that you find a photographer who is compatible with the bride and groom. A lot of weight needs to be given to the personality of the photographer. They'll be a major part of the wedding day. We stress that this person must be able to coordinate people well and needs to be respectful and willing to help create a special day. The photographer's personality and professionalism can make or break a wedding. So ask a lot of questions before you make your final decision.
Ask questions like, how will the photographer be dressed at the wedding? Do they have membership in any professional photography associations? What is their backup plan if they are sick? We advise that you also find out, up front, exactly what you'll be getting for your money. Many photographers offer several packages to choose from but all include a finished bridal album. And the bride can choose the contents from a set of originals. These kinds of details shouldn't be taken for granted. They are not always standard practice. Sometimes the album must be purchased separately.
So, shop around until you find a photographer who takes pictures you like, who has a personality that won't grate on you when everything should be perfect, and who will give you what you want for a price you can afford. In the long run, the end result will be worth the extra effort.
You might also consider professional videographers. They can create a wedding document, through the use of dual cameras, that will preserve all the best moments of your wedding day.
The wedding can be such a whirl of emotions and obligations, you may find you get to really take the time to enjoy it later when you look at the pictures and watch the video.
